St. John's Shrewsbury Anglican Church, Wooden Anglican church in Gore, Canada
St. John's Shrewsbury Anglican Church was a wooden structure with a single spire and traditional design elements typical of rural places of worship in the region. The building featured simple interior spaces with pews and an altar area that reflected Anglican practice and community religious life.
Irish and Scottish pioneers built the church in 1851 as one of the first religious structures in the Gore region. The building served the community for more than 150 years before a fire destroyed it completely in 2014.
The church represented a center for Anglican worship and community gatherings until 2010, when services concluded due to recurring acts of vandalism.
The site is located in a rural area and is accessible year-round, though roads may be more difficult to travel during winter months. Since the building no longer stands, visitors can only explore the empty location and any remaining foundations or debris.
A fire on January 12, 2014 completely destroyed the entire wooden structure, leaving only empty foundations where the church had stood for 163 years. Investigators examined the causes of the fire, considering deliberate ignition among the possible explanations.
