St. Margarets Bay

St. Margarets Bay stretches between Halifax County and Lunenburg County, marked by rocky shores that alternate with sandy beaches at Queensland, Black Point, and Cleveland points. The bay offers several natural harbors and sheltered anchorages for boats, with villages like Peggys Cove and Indian Harbour dotting its edges.

The area became known in the 1990s following a tragic airplane accident that occurred in the bay. This event led to the creation of a memorial that has marked the region since then.

The bay's name comes from Saint Margaret and is rooted in the area's colonial past. Fishing villages along the shore have shaped community life here, with local traditions tied to the sea and maritime practices.
