Kingston Yacht Club, Sailing club in Kingston, Canada
Kingston Yacht Club is a sailing club in Kingston situated where Eastern Lake Ontario meets the St Lawrence River. The clubhouse provides sailing instruction, a waterfront bistro, boats for members to use, and connections with other yacht clubs throughout North America.
The club started in 1895 as the Kingston Ice Yacht Club when people sailed on frozen water during winter. The current building opened in 1935 with the Governor General of Canada attending the ceremony.
People gather here to sail and dine together by the water, sharing a passion for the sport and the waterfront community. The club embodies both English and French traditions, reflecting how Canadians live side by side.
Walk along the waterfront to explore the grounds and see the buildings and boats clearly. Visit during warmer months when sailing activity is highest and the grounds feel most welcoming.
This location hosted sailing events during the 1976 Summer Olympics and continues to host international sailing championships on Lake Ontario. It remains one of Canada's most significant competitive sailing venues.
