Ortstock

Ortstock rises to an elevation of 2,717 meters, featuring steep north and south faces while its western flank provides a more gradual ascent route.

The mountain has long served as a natural border marker between the cantons of Schwyz and Glarus, defining territorial boundaries in central Switzerland.

The mountain forms part of the Via Glaralpina, a network of trails connecting 33 peaks that showcase the Swiss Alpine hiking traditions.

Hikers can access the summit through marked trails starting from Urnerboden, following a 13.7-kilometer loop that includes an ascent of 890 meters.

Despite its considerable height, Ortstock maintains snow formations called névés on its northern side rather than permanent glaciers.
