Aigle, town and municipality in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland
Aigle is a town in the Canton of Vaud situated at the base of the Alps in a key valley passage. The settlement has an old town center with historic buildings, a railway station, and functions as a transport hub connecting different regional areas.
The town developed at an important trade route and grew during the medieval period as a settlement along this passage. Later it became a significant railway hub in the 19th century, which shaped its regional role.
