Berneuse, Mountain summit in canton Vaud, Switzerland
Berneuse is a mountain summit rising to 2,045 meters in the western Bernese Alps, positioned east of the Rhone valley. The peak features alpine meadows and rocky outcrops with extensive views across multiple valleys and lakes when weather permits clear sightlines.
The summit became accessible in the 20th century through construction of an aerial tramway linking Leysin to the peak. This infrastructure opened the mountain to visitors beyond experienced climbers.
The restaurant at the summit blends modern dining with traditional Swiss mountain hospitality, creating a meeting place where visitors gather to eat and watch the landscape. It brings together people from different backgrounds who share a passion for spending time in high places.
Visitors can reach the summit via a hiking trail rated T2 or use the cable car from Leysin, which operates year-round. The cable car is a faster option for those with limited hiking experience or during unfavorable weather.
The restaurant at the summit rotates slowly, offering changing views of the surrounding landscape while visitors dine. On clear days, one can see Lake Geneva and Alpine peaks stretching in multiple directions from the dining space.
