Morges

Morges is a town on the northern shore of Lake Geneva, featuring a medieval castle and a waterfront promenade that leads to a natural harbor. The old town spreads with narrow streets and historic buildings clustered around the castle, which defines the town's outline.

The town was founded in 1286 by Louis of Savoy to protect the region from attacks by Geneva and Lausanne. The castle remained an important strategic point on this side of the lake for a long time.

Morges Castle now houses a Military Museum displaying weapons and uniforms from different periods of Swiss history. Visitors can trace the evolution of military affairs here and understand the role this town played in regional defense.

The train station connects the town directly to Geneva Airport and Lausanne, making arrival easy. Visitors can take regular boats from the harbor to other Lake Geneva destinations.

The Parc de l'Indépendance displays over 120,000 tulips from around the world each spring during a major flower show. This is the largest tulip celebration in Switzerland and attracts visitors eager to walk through the colorful beds.
