The museum occupies eleven rooms of the Château de Morges, a Savoyard square castle built between 1286 and 1296. A room inaugurated in 2011 traces 350 years of Vaud military history, from Pierre Davel to General Henri Guisan. Since 2006 the castle has also housed the collection of the Vaud cantonal police, including three motorcycles.
The museum is located in the town of Morges right on the lakeside and is easily accessible by public transport. It is worth planning several hours to explore all the exhibition areas.
The museum displays miniature battle scenes with carefully crafted soldier figurines depicting historical encounters in detail. It also houses a special collection dedicated to the famous pianist Paderewski, which few visitors expect to find there.
