Iseltwald, Medieval village on Lake Brienz, Switzerland
The settlement extends along the southern shore of Lake Brienz, featuring traditional Swiss chalets surrounded by mountains reaching altitudes of 2,680 meters.
King Conrad III granted a quarter of Iseltwald to Interlaken Monastery in 1146, initiating centuries of monastic influence in the region.
Local residents maintain traditions of fishing in Lake Brienz, alpine herding, and timber harvesting, alongside modern tourism activities.
Visitors can reach Iseltwald from Interlaken in 10 minutes by car or take bus number 103, with parking available in the village center.
The village charges an entrance fee of 5 Swiss Francs to access its wooden pier, which gained recognition through the Netflix series Crash Landing on You.
