Kursaal, Casino in Interlaken, Switzerland.

Kursaal is a B-licensed casino in the Kursaal garden of Interlaken, on the site of a former Augustinian monastery. The complex includes a historic concert and theatre hall built between 1899 and 1910, alongside gaming areas with slot machines, roulette, blackjack and poker. The casino reopened on 3 July 2002 after receiving one of Switzerland's 22 casino licences.

In 1858, 33 private individuals bought the 14-hectare site of the former Augustinian monastery inter lacus. A Kursaal opened in 1859, but the canton banned gambling a month later. The site later housed a whey sanatorium, a brewery, and from 1899 to 1910 a concert and theatre hall. After the Swiss gambling law of 1998, Interlaken received a B licence on 24 October 2001, and the casino reopened on 3 July 2002.

The name Kursaal comes from the German for a spa's social and entertainment building, recalling the site's 1859 whey-cure establishment with reading, music and ball rooms. The casino opened in the Kursaalgarten in 2002; in 2007 it became the first B-licensed Swiss casino to add Texas Hold'em poker to its roulette, blackjack and slot machines.

The casino stands in the Kursaalgarten, the former spa grounds south of the Aare, reached from Interlaken's Höheweg promenade. The historic Kursaal building is listed as a Swiss cultural property of national importance, so visitors pass through protected 1910 architecture. The casino holds a B licence, which limits stakes and winnings compared with A-licensed houses.

The casino opened on 3 July 2002 after the Swiss Federal Council granted Interlaken one of 22 gaming licences on 24 October 2001. In 2007 it became the first B-licence casino in Switzerland to add Texas Hold'em poker to its tables, alongside roulette, blackjack and slot machines.
