Linth–Limmern Power Stations, Pumped-storage power station in Glarus, Switzerland
The Linth-Limmern Power Stations consist of five reservoirs and four power stations operating at different altitudes in the Swiss Alps.
Construction of the power complex started in 1957 with Lake Limmern Dam, and by 1968 all initial stations reached an operational capacity of 340 MW.
The power stations demonstrate Switzerland's dedication to sustainable energy production through advanced hydroelectric engineering and environmental protection measures.
Visitors can access the power stations through guided tours that explain the hydroelectric processes and engineering features of this mountain facility.
The Muttsee dam within the complex stands as Europe's highest dam at 2500 meters altitude and extends 1054 meters in length.
