Muot da Rubi, Mountain summit at 2746 meters in Grisons and Glarus, Switzerland
Muot da Rubi is a mountain summit at 2746 meters (9011 feet) positioned along the border between Graubünden and Glarus. Its rocky peak can be reached via marked trails that ascend steep terrain from the surrounding valleys.
Local climbers opened routes to the summit during the 19th century, linking Alp Quader to the peak. These pathways became established passages for mountaineers crossing the Alpine border region.
The mountain name combines German and Romansh languages, reflecting the multilingual heritage of the Swiss Alpine communities in this border region.
The Bifertenhütte refuge at 2482 meters (8143 feet) sits along the main approach and serves as a base for climbers during the active season. From there the final push to the summit takes several hours over steep ground.
From the summit visitors can see the Mutsee reservoir and its dam far below in the valley. The views extend across the Bifertenstock range and reveal how water infrastructure sits within this Alpine landscape.
