Kröntenhütte, Mountain hut in Uri Alps, Switzerland
The Kröntenhütte is a mountain hut located at 1903 meters (6,243 feet) in the high moorland of the Erstfeldertal valley, set among alpine lakes and peaks in the Uri Alps. The building contains eleven rooms with a total of 80 beds, heated drying rooms, and hot water facilities for guests.
The hut was built in 1890 and belongs to the Gotthard section of the Swiss Alpine Club. It has undergone several modernizations since then to provide contemporary conditions for mountain visitors.
The Wyrsch family has managed this alpine refuge since 1977, organizing guided tours and training camps for mountaineers throughout the summer season.
The refuge is open from June through September and provides guests with basic facilities such as hot showers and dried food supplies. Visitors should expect quickly changing mountain weather and bring appropriate gear.
Near the hut, climbers find gardens with routes designed for beginners and intermediate climbers, offering training opportunities for various skill levels. The nearby Lake Fulen invites swimmers with its warm waters and provides a refreshing break after hiking.
