KSW-Hochhaus, Hospital tower in Winterthur, Switzerland

The KSW-Hochhaus was a modern hospital tower in central Winterthur that served medical needs for the surrounding region. The building housed multiple specialized departments across its floors, treating patients from a wide area.

The building opened in 1968 and significantly modernized medical care in Winterthur at that time. It remained the center of patient services for about five decades before demolition in 2022.

The tower's name, KSW-Hochhaus, comes from the abbreviation of Kantonsspital Winterthur. Its 16 floors held the surgical, pediatric, ophthalmology, rheumatology and gynecology clinics, plus outpatient departments and staff rooms, grouping specialized care in one building.

The site is easily accessible by public transportation and sits near other city amenities. The replacement building on the location has been designed with accessibility in mind for patients and visitors.

The tower stood over 50 metres tall with 16 storeys, making it Winterthur's second-tallest building when it opened and its third-tallest at the end. It housed the surgical, paediatric, ophthalmology, rheumatology and gynaecology clinics, plus outpatient departments and staff rooms. Demolition ran from September 2022 to January 2024, after the new Didymos treatment wing was finished.
