Jakobshorn, Mountain summit in Grisons, Switzerland.
Jakobshorn is a mountain summit in the Grisons Alps reaching 2,590 meters (8,497 feet) with views across multiple valleys and snow-covered slopes. A two-section cable car system with an intermediate station at Jschalp provides access to the peak, where ski runs and hiking trails depart in various directions.
The first tow lift was installed at Jakobshorn in 1934, marking the start of winter sports development in the Davos region. This early installation opened the mountain to organized snow tourism and recreational activities.
The Clavadeleralp cheese dairy at 2,028 meters (6,654 feet) produces cheese using traditional Swiss methods and serves local mountain specialties to visitors. Diners here sit surrounded by meadows and can watch cheese-making happen right in front of them.
The cable car departs from Davos Platz and stops at Jschalp, an intermediate station worth exploring on the way up or down. Best conditions for hiking are from May through October, while the winter season runs from December through March.
The mountain is home to the Alps Epic Trail, one of Switzerland's longest single-track routes for mountain bikers. This route draws riders from spring through autumn and presents technical challenges throughout.
