Fleckistock, Alpine summit in Uri, Switzerland
Fleckistock rises to 3,417 meters in elevation, featuring a prominent south-western ridge and steep rock formations on its western face.
The mountain received its name from the red-colored rock formations that led to its alternative designation as Rot Stock in earlier times.
Local mountaineers regularly gather at the Swiss Alpine Club's Voralp hut to plan their ascents of this Uri canton landmark.
Climbers access the peak through the normal route starting from Voralp hut at 2,126 meters, following the south-western ridge to the summit.
Two glaciers, Rütifirn and Kartigelfirn, cover the eastern flanks while the western side remains free of permanent ice formations.
