Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, private hospitality school
Les Roches International School of Hotel Management is a university campus in the Swiss Alps near Crans-Montana, surrounded by mountain landscapes and modern buildings blended with traditional architecture. The campus features equipped kitchens, bars, and training areas for hands-on learning, complemented by residence buildings, sports facilities, and social spaces.
The school was founded in 1954 and was one of the first institutions to follow a hands-on learning approach based on the Swiss model. After a fire in 1985, the campus relocated to newly built facilities in 1987 and has since grown into an internationally recognized institution.
The school brings together students from over sixty countries, creating a diverse community where different cultures meet daily. Students participate actively in clubs, sports events, and activities ranging from wine tastings to arts and charity work.
The campus sits in a mountain setting with chalets within walking distance of university buildings. The area offers year-round activities: skiing in winter and hiking or mountain biking in summer, with good train connections to European cities.
The school was originally founded by two brothers whose family had a tradition of education dating back to the founding of an earlier school called École des Roches. The name Les Roches literally means 'the rocks' and refers to the rocky mountain landscapes surrounding the campus.
