Drachenloch, Archaeological cave in canton St. Gallen, Switzerland.
The Drachenloch cave extends 542 meters in length with an entrance measuring 20 meters wide and 12 meters high in limestone layers.
Between 1918 and 1923, miners extracted 2,500 tons of material from the cave's interior sediments to produce phosphoric acid for fertilizers.
Researchers discovered more than 30,000 cave bear bones and numerous artifacts dating back 53,000 years, including charcoal remnants and a bone flute.
Visitors can reach the cave by taking a train to Bad Ragaz, followed by bus 451 to Vättis/Dorf, then following the marked hiking trail.
The cave contains sediment layers from the Aurignacian culture period, spanning from 65,000 to 31,000 BCE, with fossils of extinct species.
