Arosa Lenzerheide, Ski resort in Graubünden, Switzerland.
Arosa Lenzerheide is a ski resort in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, linking two valleys with slopes running between around 1,230 ft (375 m) and 9,400 ft (2,865 m) in elevation. The terrain covers runs for all levels, from gentle beginner slopes to steeper descents on both sides of the connecting ridge.
Arosa and Lenzerheide operated as separate ski areas until 2013, when a new gondola line connected the two valleys across the Hörnli ridge. That link turned them into the largest combined ski area in the canton.
Arosa and Lenzerheide are two distinct villages with their own feel, linked by the cable car that crosses the ridge between them. Arosa has a more compact, enclosed village center, while Lenzerheide sits along a main road with a more open layout.
Arosa is reachable by train directly from Chur, while Lenzerheide is served by bus from the same city. Since the two villages sit on opposite sides of the mountain, it helps to decide in advance which side you want to base yourself on.
The gondola that connects the two sides crosses the Hörnli ridge in just a few minutes and offers a wide view over both valleys at once. At the top of the ridge there is a mountain restaurant that can be reached from either side, making it a natural meeting point between the two villages.
