Migros-Hochhaus, Corporate skyscraper in Industriequartier, Zürich, Switzerland.
The Migros-Hochhaus is a cube-shaped office building in Zurich that reaches 74 meters in height across 20 floors. The structure features a functional facade designed to serve the company headquarters and surrounding office space.
The building was constructed between 1978 and 1981 as the headquarters for Migros Zurich during a period of corporate expansion. It marked an important moment in the evolution of Swiss retail at that time.
The fourth floor housed a small performance stage run by Migros Cultural Percentage, which supported local artists and events until October 2020. This space served as a cultural meeting point in the neighborhood.
The building underwent energy modernization in 2003 with updated technical systems meeting Minergie standards for renovation. Note that this is now a protected heritage structure with restricted access.
Four tower cranes were needed during construction: two for the base level and two for the upper sections. This construction approach was typical for major building projects in Switzerland at that time.
