Haus Bardill

Haus Bardill is a single-family home in Scharans with white-painted walls, a central courtyard, and a circular roof opening. The courtyard occupies more than two-thirds of the total interior space, creating an open area enclosed by thick walls.

The building was constructed in 2007 to replace an old barn on the site. The new structure had to meet the exact volume requirements set by local building codes.

The residence functions as both home and workspace for singer-songwriter Linard Bardill. The design demonstrates how contemporary living and artistic work can coexist within a single building.

The house is situated in a rural village and can be seen from the road. Visitors should be aware that this is a private residence and is only accessible on special occasions.

A circular roof opening casts shifting patterns of light and shadow into the courtyard throughout the day. This simple geometric intervention creates a constant visual change that makes time tangible within the space.
