Jianguomen, Transportation hub in central Beijing, China
Jianguomen is a subway interchange station in central Beijing that connects two major transit lines. The station features four underground platforms organized with two island configurations to handle passenger transfers between Lines 1 and 2.
A gate at this location was constructed in 1939 during Japanese occupation to link central Beijing with eastern industrial areas. It received its current name in 1945.
The 1982 opening of Jianguo Hotel near the station marked the first cooperative hotel venture between Chinese and international partners in Beijing.
This interchange station has three main exits labeled A, B, and C, with B and C offering accessibility features for travelers with mobility needs. The station handles substantial daily passenger traffic moving between the two lines.
The station sits at the intersection of Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts, where the 2nd Ring Road separates Jianguomen Inner Street from Outer Street.
