The center was founded in 2007 by photographers RongRong and inri and became the first place in China dedicated entirely to contemporary photography. This beginning marked the start of a new era for photography as an independent art form in the country.
The center showcases contemporary photography through exhibitions and workshops that bring together local and international artists. Visitors encounter experimental works that go beyond traditional image-making.
The center is open to visitors and offers a full range of facilities, including a library, darkrooms, and a cafe. It is advisable to plan enough time to explore the various exhibition areas and facilities.
The center organizes the annual Jimei × Arles International Photography Exhibition, a major photography festival that combines international standards with local perspectives. This event draws photographers and art enthusiasts from around the world.
