Haimen Bridge

Located in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, the Haimen Bridge is a bridge that spans the Haihe River. It connects Henan Road on the south side and Hebei Road on the north side. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic on November 13, 1985, and was the largest highway opening bridge in China at that time. The total length of the bridge is 903.74 meters, consisting of three parts: the main bridge, the approach bridge, and the approach road. The name "Haimen" comes from the fact that the section of the Haihe River where the bridge is located was called "Haimen" during the Ming Dynasty. Before January 1, 2010, the Haimen Bridge was a toll road, with a toll station located at the south end of the bridge. However, in order to further enhance the image of the Binhai New Area, facilitate travel for citizens, and transport vehicles, the toll was abolished on January 1, 2010. Since then, the bridge has been free to use. However, due to the large number of vehicles passing through the bridge during peak hours, traffic congestion often occurs. Therefore, the bridge now has a height limit of 2.5 meters for all vehicles except for public buses. As a tourist, you can enjoy a scenic view of the Haihe River while crossing the Haimen Bridge.
