青山水库, stuwmeer in Volksrepubliek China
Qingshan Reservoir in Lin'an is a large water storage system covering a wide area. It is surrounded by high hills, has a smooth surface reflecting the sky, and is ringed by green vegetation with small paths along the edges for walking and biking.
The reservoir was built in 1964 and originated from swampland and plains that residents transformed through land work into a water body. This construction was part of efforts to improve water management in Lin'an and became the city's largest water storage project for flood control and supplying water for farming and daily use.
The name refers to the green hills surrounding the water, which are reflected on its surface. It serves as part of local life, where residents come to fish, walk, and rest, and during holidays and weekends people gather here to picnic and enjoy nature at their own pace.
Small paths around the edge of the reservoir are suitable for walking or biking and offer different views of the water. The area is not heavily crowded, keeping it calm and making it a comfortable place to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
The dam connecting the two mountains is known locally as linking the Father and Mother hills, with the Father hill rising above 300 meters in elevation. A distinctive feature is a water forest planted with conifers bred specifically to grow in water, reaching about 33 feet (10 meters) tall, displaying reddish tones in spring before turning green in summer.
