Korean Embassy Site, Ningbo

The Korean Embassy Site was a diplomatic outpost located on the eastern bank of Moon Lake in Ningbo. Archaeological findings reveal traces of building structures, ceramics, and everyday objects from that period.

The embassy was established during the Northern Song period to serve as a hub for diplomatic relations between China and Korea. It was destroyed through conflict and political changes, marking the end of this important connection.

The ruins show how Korean envoys lived and worked when visiting Ningbo. You can still see how the site was arranged and what role it played in connecting the two nations.

The site can be visited, though you should wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven and partially unpaved. Information on-site is limited, so it helps to read about the history beforehand.

Excavations have uncovered ceramics with distinctive markings that show trade connections to other Asian lands. These finds help researchers understand how far trading networks extended in that early period.
