Heroldovy sady, Public park in Vršovice, Czech Republic
Heroldovy sady is a public park in Vršovice situated between Kodaňská Street and Rangherka with diverse tree species including maple, lime, pine, spruce, ash, and yew. The park spans 1.43 hectares and features paved paths, modern lighting, and seating areas.
The land was originally planted with vineyards in the 14th century and became a silk factory with mulberry plantations in 1842. It transformed into a public park in 1882 for the community.
A stone obelisk and memorial linden tree honor Josef Herold, who served as mayor of the Vršovice neighborhood. These monuments show how residents value and preserve their local heritage.
The park is easy to navigate with paved paths throughout and offers seating areas for rest and observation. Modern lighting makes the space safe and accessible during early morning and evening hours.
Since 2013, the park operates a public book exchange where visitors freely take and leave books. This practice makes the space a gathering point for readers and neighbors.
