Hückeswagen

Hückeswagen is an urban municipality in the Oberbergischer Kreis region of North Rhine-Westphalia, situated in rolling terrain along the Wupper river valley. The town's layout follows the natural landscape, with buildings distributed across the hillsides rather than concentrated in a single dense center.

The settlement began in 1085 as the home of the Counts of Hückeswagen, who built their castle here and shaped the area's development. Over the following centuries, the territory expanded and became an important administrative and trade center for the region.

The town coat of arms, granted in 1892, displays the Berg lion in its upper section and a textile industry symbol below.
