Lingen transmitter, Radio and television transmitter in Lingen, Germany
The Lingen transmitter is a 227-meter-high steel mast that distributes radio and television signals across Lower Saxony. The facility broadcasts multiple local and national programs to residents in the surrounding area.
The facility began operations in 1962, initially broadcasting medium wave signals to the region. The operator discontinued medium wave transmission network-wide in January 2015.
The transmitter distributes multiple regional NDR channels along with national programs, providing Lower Saxony residents with access to news and entertainment content.
The mast is visible from the roadside and can be photographed from a distance. The site itself is not open to public access, but the structure is easily recognizable from surrounding areas.
A Russian helicopter was needed in 2013 to replace components at the tower peak due to its exceptional height and technical requirements. This maintenance task represented an unusual engineering challenge for the facility.
