Altes Hüttenareal Neunkirchen

Altes Hüttenareal Neunkirchen is an industrial heritage complex featuring restored blast furnaces, a converted blowing hall, a water tower, and the Stumm riding hall spread across extensive grounds. The structures showcase different periods of ironworking technology and production methods used over centuries.

The iron works were established in 1593 and experienced major expansion under the Stumm brothers beginning in 1806. This growth transformed the site into one of Germany's largest industrial operations and shaped the region for generations.

The converted blowing hall is now a cultural venue where concerts, theater productions, and exhibitions take place regularly. The space brings people together and creates a living connection between the region's industrial past and its present-day arts scene.

The grounds are best explored on foot following the Hüttenweg trail, which connects various stations throughout the complex. Wear comfortable shoes since the site is large and the terrain can be uneven in places.

The water tower that once stored water for the blast furnaces now houses a cinema with four screens. This blend of original function and modern use shows how the site continues to evolve while honoring its past.
