Reichszeugmeisterei, National Socialist administrative building in Munich, Germany
The Reichszeugmeisterei in Munich is an administrative building constructed between 1935 and 1937 with steel frame architecture. After World War II, the structure served as a U.S. military facility before eventually becoming the Munich Police Headquarters.
The building was created as a central procurement site for equipment and supplies before its original purpose ended in 1945. Its subsequent use by U.S. forces transformed the location into a military base for several decades.
The structure established uniform standards and licensing requirements for manufacturers, controlling the production of Nazi regalia through a numbered certification system.
The building is located on Tegernseer Landstraße in Munich and currently functions as an active police headquarters. Visitors should be aware that this is an operational government facility with restricted access.
The facility was repurposed after the war and now serves a completely different government function than originally intended. This transformation demonstrates how buildings adapt to serve new communities and purposes over time.
