Altes Brauhaus zu Fallersleben, Historic brewery in Fallersleben, Germany.
The Altes Brauhaus zu Fallersleben is a historic brewery in Wolfsburg housed in a stone building with a mansard roof, dormer windows, and vaulted cellars. The main structure spans 14 by 38 meters (46 by 125 feet) and includes an attached hotel and event spaces alongside the brewing operations.
The brewery was founded in 1765 near Fallersleben Castle and ceased operations in 1915 before reopening in 1987 following extensive restoration of the original building. The long period of closure meant that many original structures remained intact and could be authentically restored later.
The brewery embodies German brewing traditions through the production of unfiltered beers following the Beer Purity Law of 1516 with natural ingredients. Visitors can experience this craft directly in the production processes and during tastings.
The brewery opens daily and serves craft beers, German food, and beverages across different areas visitors can explore. It also offers accommodation in the attached hotel and rents beer wagons for special occasions.
The brewery was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 2007 that destroyed the four-story roof, with an 18th-century chimney intentionally preserved during reconstruction. This distinctive chimney now symbolizes the continuity between the site's historical heritage and its modern use.
