The Hoffmann-von-Fallersleben-Museum occupies Schloss Fallersleben, a former timber-framed castle in the Fallersleben district of Wolfsburg. Since 1991 it has displayed a manuscript collection acquired in 1928 from the estate of Hoffmann's son Franz. Exhibits include original publications, games, sound recordings and text panels; light-sensitive originals are kept in drawers that visitors can pull out.
The castle was originally built as a family residence and later occupied by Klara von Sachsen-Lauenburg. The museum opened in 1991 and transformed the building into a site dedicated to literary history.
Hoffmann von Fallersleben was a poet whose works shaped German thought and literature. The exhibitions show how his texts continue to resonate in culture and what meaning they hold for German letters.
