The museum occupies a renovated timber-framed castle, featuring exhibits about August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben through manuscripts, documents, and interactive displays.
The museum opened in 1991 in Schloss Fallersleben, formerly a residence of Klara von Sachsen-Lauenburg, wife of Duke Franz of Brunswick-Lüneburg.
The exhibits present the work of Hoffmann von Fallersleben, who wrote the German national anthem and numerous songs that influenced German literature.
The museum welcomes visitors Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 to 17:00, Saturday 13:00 to 17:00, and Sunday 11:00 to 17:00.
The upper floor contains a preserved Biedermeier-style wedding hall with original painted timber framing and stucco ceilings from the historical period.
