Imperia, Concrete statue at harbor entrance in Konstanz, Germany
The 9-meter-tall rotating statue presents a woman holding two small male figures representing religious and political authorities of the 15th century.
The statue commemorates the Council of Constance from 1414 to 1418, during which Pope Martin V was elected and Jan Hus was condemned.
The sculpture references a story by Honoré de Balzac about a courtesan who influenced cardinals and princes during the Council of Constance.
The statue performs a complete rotation every four minutes, offering visitors different perspectives of Lake Constance and the harbor area.
Peter Lenk installed this 18-ton concrete monument secretly in 1993 on private railway company property without official city permission.
