Angel of Peace, Bronze monument in Bogenhausen district, Munich, Germany

The Angel of Peace stands 38 meters tall with a golden statue perched on a Corinthian column located within the Maximiliansanlagen park at the eastern end of Prinzregentenstraße. The base features a temple-like structure with columns and decorated interior walls that support the monument's height.

The monument was established in 1896 and officially inaugurated in 1899 to commemorate 25 years of peace following the Franco-Prussian War. Since its completion, it has remained a defining landmark in Munich's cityscape and symbolizes a peaceful era in regional history.

The mosaics on the temple walls depict scenes of war, peace, and victory through allegorical figures. Visitors can observe portraits of German emperors and Bavarian rulers displayed at the base, which tell stories of the region's political history.

Visitors can access the observation deck via two separate staircases that lead to views across Munich's skyline and the architectural styles of buildings along Prinzregentenstraße. Climbing the stairs requires moderate fitness due to the monument's substantial height.

During the early 1980s, the statue required removal for inspection and repair due to structural concerns. The wings and leg positioning were modified before the piece was reinstalled in 1983, marking a significant conservation effort.
