Musicland Studios, Recording studio in Munich, Germany
Musicland Studios was a recording facility housed in the basement of the Arabella High-Rise Building in Munich, equipped with modern recording and mixing technology. The space featured a 16-track recorder and Helios mixing console for professional sound production.
Giorgio Moroder founded the studio in 1970 as a significant production location for music between Paris and Tokyo. The facility later became technically problematic due to interference from the U4 subway line.
The studio served as a meeting place for international artists who recorded their work and collaborated on projects within its walls. It drew musicians from different genres and shaped Munich's music scene during that era.
The studio was accessible to various artists and production types and was overseen by recording engineer Reinhold Mack until its closure in the early 1990s. Visitors should be aware that the location no longer operates as an active recording facility today.
Donna Summer recorded her groundbreaking song 'I Feel Love' here, introducing electronic dance music elements that later influenced the development of house and techno genres. The track became a turning point in music history and showcased what this production facility could achieve.
