Hohe Wurzel

Hohe Wurzel is a mountain standing at 618 meters, making it the highest peak in the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis near Wiesbaden. The terrain is covered in forest and provides several hiking routes that vary in difficulty and length.

The mountain once held a tower built in 1883 that served radio enthusiasts before being taken down in the early 2000s. The site then became home to modern telecommunications infrastructure serving the wider region.

The mountain has long served as a destination where people from surrounding towns meet for outdoor activities and recreation. Visitors notice how the trails connect different parts of the region and support a tradition of hiking among locals.

The hiking trails are clearly marked and start from the Taunuswunderland parking area, with the ascent taking roughly 2 hours. Standard hiking boots are sufficient for the route, and there are no major obstacles along the way.

A concrete tower on the summit broadcasts radio and television signals across the region and shapes the visual landscape distinctly. This structure can be spotted from many places in the surrounding countryside.
