Schläferskopf, Mountain summit in Taunus range, Germany
Schläferskopf is a mountain summit in the Taunus range located in Hesse, rising 454 meters above sea level. The peak is crowned by a stone tower that serves as a landmark for the surrounding region.
A wooden structure was first built on the summit in 1883 to mark this location. It was replaced in 1906 by a stone tower that remains standing at the peak today.
The tower's interior contains the Kaiser Wilhelm Room, displaying an oil painting of the emperor in a hunting scene and specialized glass artwork.
Access to the tower is available on weekends and holidays for those who want to reach the viewing platforms. A restaurant located at the base of the mountain provides meals and refreshments for visitors before or after their climb.
The tower features a double spiral staircase that physically separates people climbing up from those descending. This architectural design from the early 1900s remains an efficient way to manage visitor flow.
