Arber-Bergbahn, Cable car system at Great Arber mountain, Bavaria, Germany

The Arber-Bergbahn is a cable and chairlift system on Great Arber mountain that carries visitors to the summit at around 1,450 meters elevation. The facility includes multiple stations along the route and different starting points for various paths up the mountain.

The first chairlift at Great Arber began operations in 1949 and marked the beginning of modernizations in this mountain transport system. The installations have since been expanded and upgraded multiple times.

The mountain restaurant serves food shaped by local traditions from both sides of the nearby border. This blend appears in the dishes that visitors find at the summit.

The facilities operate daily and are straightforward to use, even on your first visit. Information is available at the base stations, and it is wise to bring weather-resistant clothing, especially when fog rolls in.

On clear days, visitors can see from the top all the way to the Alps while also looking out over Germany's oldest national park. This view shows how the mountain transport brings travelers to a geographically special place in the heart of Europe.
