Hohenzollern Skistadion, Biathlonstadion
The Hohenzollern Skistadion is a sports facility in Bavaria near the Großer Arbersee lake and the Czech border. It features approximately 30 shooting ranges, multiple cross-country skiing trails of varying length and difficulty, and lighting for evening training sessions, complemented by a roller skiing track during summer months.
The stadium opened in 1984 and became a center for biathlon and cross-country skiing in the region. Between 2000 and 2005, it underwent major modernization with new lighting, paved summer tracks, and additional buildings to meet international competition standards.
The stadium bears the name of the Hohenzollern princely family, which owns the land and operates a nearby mountain railway in the area. It serves as a gathering place for the region's biathlon and cross-country skiing community, where athletes and visitors share experiences around these winter sports.
The facility is located near Bayerisch Eisenstein and can be reached easily on foot or by bicycle. Parking areas and information centers help visitors navigate and learn more about events and training opportunities.
During summer months, the stadium transforms into a roller skiing facility, allowing athletes to train year-round without snow and experience competitive racing conditions. This makes it a training destination for biathlon and cross-country skiing athletes regardless of season.
