Haus der Deutschen Weinstraße, Tourist center at German Wine Route in Bockenheim an der Weinstraße, Germany.
Haus der Deutschen Weinstraße is an architectural structure in Bockenheim an der Weinstraße, built over Bundesstraße 271, with an eastern wing that physically bridges two parts of the town. It houses a restaurant and exhibition spaces dedicated to wine growing in the surrounding region.
The building was completed in 1995 and marks the northern end of the German Wine Route. Its southern counterpart, the German Wine Gate in Schweigen, was built in 1936, and together the two structures define the full length of this touring route through wine country.
The on-site wine tavern restaurant serves regional dishes that reflect local farming traditions, while displays show how grapes have been processed in the area for generations. Visitors can taste food and wine together, experiencing how both are woven into daily life here.
A tourist information office inside the building can help orient visitors to the surrounding wine region, including local vineyards and events. The location on a main road makes it a natural first stop when entering the route from the north.
The restaurant terrace sits above an artificial pond, giving diners the feeling of eating over open water. From the Tower Room above, there is a clear view of the Haardt Mountains and the vineyards that surround the town.
