New Palace, Baroque palace in Stuttgart, Germany
The New Palace is a baroque palace in Stuttgart with three-story wings arranged in a square, featuring symmetrical facades adorned by columns and ornate window frames. The structure creates a central courtyard and displays the classic features of this architectural period.
Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg commissioned the building in 1746 as his new residence. The structure replaced an older building and became a symbol of princely power in the region.
Inside, marble floors, gilded ceilings, and detailed sculptures show the craftsmanship of the 18th century. The rooms tell the story of princely life and the artistic tastes of that era.
Visitors can explore selected ceremonial rooms and halls through guided tours, while state offices occupy parts of the building. The best time to visit is outside business hours to enjoy the historic rooms peacefully.
In the central courtyard stand four statues representing the four elements—earth, water, fire, and air—created by local sculptors. These sculptures show the artistic partnership between the duke and Stuttgart's creative craftsmen.
