Werhahnmühle, Office building in Duisburg-Mitte, Germany
The Werhahnmühle is a repurposed grain silo and mill building with large windows on its western facade and preserved outer walls. After renovation, it now contains offices, restaurants, exhibition spaces, and medical facilities.
The building was constructed in 1896 as a grain mill in the Ruhr region. It was confiscated in 1936 and later became known under the Werhahn Neuss name.
The building is part of the Duisburg Inner Harbor district and shows how old industrial structures find new purposes. Visitors can explore museums, offices, and restaurants today in spaces that once served industrial production.
The building contains several areas to explore, including the Atlantis Children's Museum, which draws visitors of all ages. Accessibility and opening hours should be confirmed directly, as different facilities within operate on varying schedules.
The storage areas served as state grain reserves until 1994, continuing their original purpose decades after the mill stopped operating. These spaces tell an unusual story of repurposing across different eras.
