Wismar Observation Tower

The Wismar Observation Tower is a 37-meter-tall steel structure in Bürgerpark with multiple viewing platforms accessible to visitors. The open steel framework allows clear sightlines in all directions and sits within the park landscape.

Built in 2002, the tower introduced a contemporary structure to the medieval Hanseatic city. Its construction was part of broader efforts to refresh the park and create new vantage points for viewing Wismar.

The tower gives visitors a view of how the port connects to the wider city and its daily rhythm. From the top, you can see where locals live, work, and how the waterfront shapes everyday life.

Visiting requires climbing multiple flights of stairs to reach the viewing platforms, so comfortable footwear is important. The structure is not wheelchair accessible, so it may not work for visitors with limited mobility.

The tower is the highest public viewpoint in Wismar, offering a complete 360-degree view of the Baltic Sea port. This unobstructed panoramic view from all sides is special when weather permits clear visibility.
