Autobahnüberbauung Schlangenbader Straße

The Schlangenbader Strasse residential complex spans 600 meters across the Berlin city ring road with a maximum height of 46 meters.

The complex was constructed between 1976 and 1982 by architects Georg Heinrichs, Gerhard Krebs, and Klaus Krebs for the state housing company Degewo.

The residential complex represents a significant example of post-war urban architecture in Berlin, reflecting the housing needs during the city's division period.

The building contains 2,200 residential units of various layouts, complemented by underground parking facilities with 760 parking spaces across two levels.

The structure incorporates a hollow box design to reduce traffic vibrations from the highway, making it the only residential building successfully built over a major city highway.
