Mosse-Stift, Former hospital and heritage monument in Wilmersdorf, Berlin, Germany.
Mosse-Stift is a former orphanage with neo-baroque architecture set on spacious grounds near Wilmersdorf. The complex features multiple wings arranged around a central building topped with a dome.
Built between 1893 and 1895, the complex was funded by Emilie and Rudolf Mosse as a response to Berlin's growing social needs. It operated as an orphanage for generations before changing its function in later decades.
The institution opened as a home for children of all religious backgrounds, offering shelter and education without regard to faith. This inclusive approach shaped daily life and made it a place where different beliefs coexisted naturally.
The grounds now house multiple organizations including youth centers, kindergartens, and residential facilities serving different community needs. When visiting, focus on the public areas and be mindful of spaces dedicated to residents and active programs.
Memorial plaques honoring the founders remain visible at the entrance, with one relocated from the west to east side over time. This relocation reflects how the site's history was shaped by the city's division.
