The station opened on December 1, 1879 as the terminal of the initial Friedberg-Hanau line under the name Heldenbergen-Windecken. Over time it was reconstructed several times and took on the name of its present municipality.
The entrance building displays neo-baroque architectural features and stands as a protected monument today. Visitors can observe the detailed facade and craftsmanship of this heritage structure when passing through.
The station is easily accessible on both rail lines and has platforms for boarding and alighting. The waiting areas are covered, and you can find connections to several destinations here.
The platforms were specially modified to safely accommodate double-deck trains. This adaptation allows the station to serve modern trains with greater capacity.
