Bennigser Burg, Medieval hillfort in Springe, Germany.
The Bennigser Burg spans across 140 by 160 meters of land, with earth walls rising between 3 to 5 meters in height along its perimeter.
Archaeological excavations conducted in 1937 revealed ceramic fragments and structural elements dating the fortification to the 10th century CE.
The fortification represents early medieval defensive architecture in Lower Saxony, with evidence of sophisticated engineering and community planning.
The site remains inaccessible to wheelchair users and requires sturdy footwear for navigation through the archaeological grounds.
Deep valley streams on two sides of the fortification provided natural protection, while the strategic ridge location offered visibility across the surrounding territory.
