Glashütte Steinkrug, Historical glassworks in Wennigsen, Germany.
The industrial complex features a prominent 13-meter high sandstone tower constructed in 1839, situated at the edge of the Deister forest.
The glassworks operated from 1809 to 1928, founded by Baron Wilhelm Carl Ernst Knigge, who owned the adjacent Bredenbeck estate.
Glass artisans lived in dedicated worker housing near the factory, forming a separate community with specialized roles such as medical glass makers.
The facility manufactured various glass products, including wine bottles, window panes, and 50-liter glass containers for chemical industry applications.
The factory utilized twelve clay melting ovens, enabling simultaneous production of different glass colors, including cobalt blue for South American markets.
