Kotzen is a 1766 m high spur of the Stierjoch in the Vorkarwendel range, about 2 km north of the Stierjoch and 4.5 km south of the Sylvensteinsee, in the triangle between Sylvensteinsee, Schafreuter and Lerchkogel. A summit cross stands at the top; it was found sawn off on 5 November 2017.

The Kotzen is a 1766 m forepeak of the Stierjoch in the Vorkarwendel, about 2 km north of that summit and 4.5 km south of the Sylvenstein reservoir. The Kotzen-Runde circular trail crosses the Dürrachklamm on a bridge that was closed for safety in spring 2006, dismantled that summer and rebuilt in autumn 2006; the same bridge had been erected in the 1970s for the film Der Jäger von Fall, based on a novel by Ludwig Ganghofer. On 5 November 2017 the summit cross was found sawn off, after similar acts on other peaks such as the Schafreuter.

The Kotzen-Runde circular trail crosses the Dürrachklamm gorge on a footbridge. That bridge was built for the 1970s filming of Der Jäger von Fall, a film adaptation of a Ludwig Ganghofer novel. It was closed for safety in spring 2006, dismantled that summer and rebuilt in autumn 2006.

Marked hiking trails lead from nearby parking areas to the summit, taking about three hours during summer months and offering different difficulty levels. Starting early in the day gives you enough time to complete the hike before darkness falls.

The Kotzen is 1,766 m high, not 1,771 m, and lies about 2 km north of the Stierjoch (1,908.4 m) in the Vorkarwendel, roughly 4.5 km south of the Sylvensteinsee. Its summit cross was found sawn off on 5 November 2017, as had happened at other peaks nearby such as the Schafreuter.
